Associate, Venture Debt

Our client is a premier venture debt firm that invests in high-growth, venture capital backed companies throughout their lifespan with debt and equity capital (typically primarily debt with equity warrants). The firm's investments span all technology sectors (including Internet, software and consumer technologies) across stages ranging from Series A to Pre-IPO.

The firm has significant capital and is actively pursuing new investments. They are currently looking for two Associates to join their team - one for their Bay Area headquarters and one for their New York office - for a career-track opportunity. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to join a rapidly growing firm that works closely with top-tier venture capital firms and their portfolio companies. With lean deal teams, Associates will have a broad range of responsibilities and the opportunity to work closely with senior management.

Responsibilities for this position include:

Research, prepare, and compile comprehensive written analyses on investment opportunities.
Work as part of an investment team presenting investment opportunities to internal committees for approval.
Conduct due diligence meetings with senior executives/entrepreneurs at early to growth stage companies
Financial analysis and modeling of investment opportunities.
Assist senior investment executives with screening and structuring investments.
Support legal documentation and execution of new transactions.
Monitor and track investments after approval and funding.
Work on other projects as needed.

Candidates should possess the following:

Private Equity investing mentality with a diligent work ethic.
Strong analytical, diligence, and communication skills.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Strong qualitative and quantitative abilities.
A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in investment banking, consulting or private equity. Technology experience highly preferred, leveraged finance experience a plus. Start-up or corporate / business development experience will be considered as well.
