Firm Overview
Our client is a rapidly growing San Francisco-based investment firm that provides creative, asset-based financing to venture-backed businesses worldwide. The firm has a broad mandate, but historically has invested in the FinTech, PropTech, E-Commerce and SaaS spaces. The firm also has deep experience investing in Latin America. The team targets equity-like returns by structuring bespoke credit or structured equity facilities, while also having the flexibility to invest via various forms of equity (preferred, common, etc.). The team has deployed over $150mm in funding to early-stage startups since the firm’s inception ~18 months ago.
The Role
The investment team is lean and is eager add a talented Vice President to capitalize on the firm’s growth and robust deal flow. The ideal candidate should possess the ability and desire to wear a variety of hats, including spearheading investment sourcing, structuring, diligence, execution, portfolio company monitoring, and investment strategy, among others. The Vice President will be tasked with captaining the deal team from start to finish on deals. The Vice President will also assist in the growth of the firm, including helping to build out theses for new investment and underwriting strategies, identify market opportunities, and develop strategy for the firm’s broader asset management business.

Deal Sourcing / Screening, including cultivating relationships with venture capitalists and other prospective deal partners (companies, sponsors, management teams, etc.)

Qualifications

6+ years of transaction experience, preferably within or related to any of the following areas: FinTech, specialty finance, private credit, opportunistic credit, special situations, structured finance, venture debt, private equity, growth equity

Experience in (or knowledge of) fintech and technology

Ability to manage deals independently and to completion, including review and negotiation of legal documents (credit and equity documents)

Entrepreneurial drive and desire to help grow and develop a dynamic asset manager

Excellent communication skills, including demonstrated ability to write and present effectively

Desire and ability to be out in front of, and to develop relationships with, potential partners, whether venture capitalists, companies, investors or other stakeholders
